The Oilers would not let the Americans own back-to-back victories on a Saturday in the BOK Center as they defeated the Allen team 5-2 in front of 6,024 fans.

Tulsa would strike first on a Dan DeSalvo shot that deflected off of the stick of Emerson Clark at the 4:55 mark. Phil Brewer would assist.

Turnovers provided opportunities often for the Oilers and in the second period, Brewer—from Adam Pleskach—would capitalize on one. The Oilers doubled their lead and then they would triple it.

Shortly after Pleskach would drop the puck for his teammate and Christophe Lalancette slapped one in past Joel Rumple to end the frame 3-0.

The start of third period did not prove as promising for the Oilers as the prior two when the Americans tallied two goals that put them in close reach of Tulsa.

First Gary Steffes stole a lose puck from Nathan Lutz and gave the pass to Chad Costello that found it’s way over the glove of Kevin Carr. The Americans were on the board.

A big chance came for Brady Ramsay but gravity robbed him as his shot would just go off the corner post.

Allen notched their second goal at 14:06 when Steffes produced his second point of the night after he snagged a puck that was in DeSalvo’s favor and slipped it past Carr.

Just 37 second later Jordan Kremyr would be the one to raise Tulsa’s spirits on what was turning out to be a dicey final 20 minutes.

Kremyr received a pass off of a sharp Brandon Wong pass that he then backhanded into the Allen net. The Oilers would have a 4-2 advantage and there would be three assists: Wong, Ramsay and Kremyr’s skate.

Although the top two Americans scorers would both produce, the team would fail to defeat the Oilers for a second straight night.

Brewer would tap the puck in with 27 seconds left for his third point of the night (2 goals, 1 assist) and the Oilers would take the 5-2 win—the third consecutive victory at home.

The Oilers finish off their 4-game series against the Americans tomorrow afternoon in Allen soil.

Did you know the Zamboni was invented by an American, Frank Zamboni? In fact, the Zambonis are made blocks from a rink in Southern California. The Zambonis are driven on neighborhood streets to be tested at the ice rink nearby. The first Zamboni was created out of a tractor, however, that method didn’t work. Eventually Frank invented a machine that shaved the ice, took the shavings and then proceeded to wash and squeegee the ice. These machines are so specialized that their costs can range into six figures.
