Tulsa, Okla. — Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, and powered by Community Care, announced the addition of defenseman Caleb Huffman, who joins Tulsa after an impressive playoff performance, claiming an SPHL championship in 2026.
Huffman (24) finished the final five games of the 2025-26 regular season with the Evansville Thunderbolts of the SPHL, after being traded from the Macon Mayhem in exchange for forward Cooper Fensterstock. The late addition to the Thunderbolts left Macon after putting up nine points (4g, 5a) in 26 games with an even plus-minus rating. The six-foot-four, 201-pound defenseman would go on to produce one assist in the final five regular-season games with Evansville and compile four points (1g, 3a) in 12 playoff games and record a staggering +11 rating to help the Thunderbolts capture an SPHL President’s Cup in a best-of-five series, after trailing 2-0 and winning three straight over the Peoria Rivermen.
“Caleb is coming off a championship season in the SPHL and was a +11 in the playoffs,” said Associate Coach Bruce Ramsay. “He is a big, strong, stay-at-home defenseman that makes a great first pass and can play the physical side of the game too. He is the kind of guy that makes it hard for the opposing team to play in the offensive zone”
Prior to his first full professional season, the big-body blueliner spent six games with the Wichita Thunder, under the command of Ramsay in the 2024-25 season.
Before becoming pro, the Fairbanks, Alaska native played with Simon Fraser University, stacking up 16 points (3g, 13a) in 20 games. The now Tulsa D-man began his college career at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, where he suited up in 42 games in the NCAA.
Huffman joins Max Itagaki (F), Ian Amsbaugh (F), Connor Fedorek (D), Ethan Benz (F), Zachary Murray (F), Jay Dickman (F), and Tyler Poulsen (F) as announced signings for the 2026-27 season.
The Tulsa Oilers begin the regular season hosting the Allen Americans on October 17 at the BOK Center. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. CT.
