OILERS BRING BACK SPEED IN ETHAN STEWART

Rookie forward Ethan Stewart re-joins Oilers as first member of the 2022-23 roster

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Anaheim Ducks and the American Hockey League’s San Diego Gulls, announced Thursday the re-signing of rookie forward Ethan Stewart.

Stewart, 25, returns to the Oilers after beginning his professional career after a strong collegiate career last season. The 6’0, 180 lbs. forward registered five points (1G, 4A) in 13 regular season games for Tulsa. An industrious center, Stewart shined in the playoffs, producing four points (2G, 2A) in five games. Two of the right-handed forward’s three professional tucks are game-winning goals — one in the regular season and one in the postseason.

“Ethan came to us late in the season after captaining Ferris State,” said head coach Rob Murray. “He made an impact for our squad right away. He is a faster skater that has a great grasp on the details of the game. He proved to be a very solid penalty killer early on, and he’s not afraid to sacrifice his body to block shots. In conversations I’ve had with him, he’s mentioned he’s proven many people wrong, and he wants to continue on that path heading into this season!”

The Rockford, Ill. native played his college hockey at Ferris State University, where he captained the squad in his senior season. Over 76 NCAA games, Stewart logged 29 points (11G, 18A) for the Bulldogs.

Stewart spent his junior career in the NAHL, compiling 72 points (29G, 43A) in 157 games between Aberdeen, Kenai River and Springfield.
