Tulsa, Okla. — Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, and powered by Community Care, outlast the Allen Americans at home inside WeStreet Ice Center with a 5-3 victory to end the exhibition weekend.
Jonny Hooker began the scoring after taping in a back-door feed by Luc Salem, beating Jesper Vickman’s right pad to make it 1-0 Oilers at the 7:46 mark of period one. Tulsa added to their advantage 8:20 into frame one via a point-shot by Connor Olson that deflected off Zachary Murray, beating Vickman over the glove-side shoulder, making it 2-0. Lukas Sillinger for Allen scored from the slot at the 13:30 mark of the opening period to make it 2-1 Tulsa at the end of the first.
Tulsa grabbed the lone goal of the second period thanks to Nick Nardella, electing to shoot on a two-on-zero breakaway to extend the game’s score to 3-1 Oilers, 13:50 into the middle frame.
The Americans made it 3-2 after Spencer Asuchak slammed home his first goal of the preseason 8:23 into the third.
