Tulsa, Okla. — Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, and powered by Community Care, announce the official signing of last season’s captain, Tyrell Goulbourne.

Goulbourne (32) finished his first season with the Oilers with 23 points (9g, 13a) in just 48 games due to injury. The former NHL prospect was a +8 while earning heavy ice time in the games he suited up for.

“Goulbourne is a veteran guy who had a tough, injury-plagued season last year, and we feel he will be in great form to start this season,” said Head Coach Rob Murray. “He brings a wealth of experience and leadership both at this level and the American League.”

Before signing with the Oilers one season ago, the returning forward played the 2024-25 season with Ontario in the AHL, notching four points (2g, 2a), 24 PIM and a +3 rating in 22 games with the Reign. 


Selected in the third round, 72nd overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Goulbourne appeared in 11 NHL games with the club. While under contract with the Flyers, he added 55 points (25g, 30a) and 313 PIM in 224 AHL games on assignment with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The veteran presence totals 334 AHL appearances, accruing 65 points (29g, 36a) and 422 PIM after further stints with Chicago, Henderson, Belleville, Stockton and Ontario. The 2018-19 season saw Goulbourne pot a career-high nine goals and 135 PIM — ranking fifth among all AHLers in 63 games.  

The six-foot, 200-pound forward re-entered the ECHL last season looking to add to his career 19 points (8g, 11a) tallied in 37 games, with 36 games and all 19 points accumulated with Reading during the 2016-17 season, he now totals 42 points (17g, 25a) in 85 ECHL games.  

Prior to turning pro, Goulbourne honed his skills in the WHL, spending his entire Major Junior career with the Kelowna Rockets. The Edmonton, Alberta, native finished his amateur career with 125 points (60g, 65a) and 465 PIM in 275 regular-season WHL games. Goulbourne hoisted the Ed Chynoweth Memorial Cup by defeating the Winterhawks with Kelowna in 2015. 

Goulbourne joins Mike McKee (D), Nik Armstrong-Kingcade (F), Caleb Huffman (D), Max Itagaki (F), Ian Amsbaugh (F), Connor Fedorek (D), Ethan Benz (F), Zachary Murray (F), Jay Dickman (F), and Tyler Poulsen (F) as announced signings for the 2026-27 season. 

The Tulsa Oilers begin the regular season hosting the Allen Americans on October 17 at the BOK Center. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. CT.
