Tulsa, Okla. — Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, and powered by Community Care, announced the return of Tulsa Oilers household name, Mike McKee, for his tenth season as a member of the organization.

 McKee (33), enters what will be a decade of seasons as training camp begins in early October. The veteran Oiler finished last season with two goals and 15 assists, his most helpers since the 2021-22 season where he had 20, a season in which he set a career high in goals, assists, and points in a single season (6g, 20a).

“Mike and I have been together for nine years and are now entering our tenth,” said Head Coach Rob Murray. “Mike has improved immensely throughout his career; he is respected for his toughness and overall grit. He is that guy you wish others had half his determination and grit. We have become very good friends, and he is a great guy. Fans love him, and we are thrilled to have him back.”

McKee enters the 2026-27 season having recorded 555 games as an Oiler, just 33 games behind former teammate Adam Pleskach (588) for the franchise record for games played as an Oiler. 

The Newmarket, Ontario native has compiled 139 points (27g, 112a) as an Oiler over nine seasons, filling roles as a forward and a defensive defenseman under Murray’s teams. The 33-year-old represents a +21 rating as a member of Tulsa, showcasing his longevity of responsibility on the ice, gaining him a reputation as one of the hardest-working Oilers of all time. 

To begin his professional career, McKee appeared in four ECHL games in the 2016-17 season with the Toledo Walleye, potting one assist and adding 16 PIM. In addition to his ECHL numbers, the six-foot-five, 240-pound blueliner sports 10 AHL games on his resume, nine with the San Diego Gulls and one with the Tucson Roadrunners. 

The 140th overall selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft (Detroit) spent four collegiate seasons with Western Michigan University, notching 13 points (6g, 7a) and 194 PIM in 101 games with the Broncos before turning pro. Prior to his collegiate career, McKee played in the USHL with the Lincoln Stars, amassing 40 points (5g, 35a), a +22 rating and 529 PIM in 101 outings. The former forward-defenseman pivot led the USHL in PIM in both of his campaigns in the league and was selected to play in the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.

McKee joins Luc Salem (D), Nik Armstrong-Kingcade (F), Caleb Huffman (D), Max Itagaki (F), Ian Amsbaugh (F), Connor Fedorek (D), Ethan Benz (F), Zachary Murray (F), Jay Dickman (F), and Tyler Poulsen (F) as announced signings for the 2026-27 season. 

The Tulsa Oilers begin the regular season hosting the Allen Americans on October 17 at the BOK Center. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. CT.
