Tulsa, Okla. — Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, and powered by Community Care, announce the return of goaltender Jake Sibell for his second season with the team.
Sibell (26) was picked up by Tulsa in December of 2025 after being released by the Greensboro Gargoyles in late October of last year, appearing in just one game. The six-foot-two, 205-pound goalie went on to fill the net for nine games with Tulsa, producing an impressive 2.41 GAA and a .925 save percentage, and had a 4-2-0-0 record.
“Jake obviously was a Godsend when we had both of our goalies (Buteyets/Suchanek) called up by San Diego last year,” said Head Coach Rob Murray. “He competes like no other and never gives up on any play and is one of the hardest workers in the room at all times. He attended San Diego's camp and impressed the coaching staff there as well, which is a good sign for his future.”
The returning netminder played four seasons collegiately, split between Niagara University his freshman and sophomore years and the University of St. Thomas his junior and senior campaigns. The Isanti, Minnesota native collected a 21-20-4 record with a 2.68 GAA and a .913 save percentage over those four seasons before turning pro.
Before his college experience, the returning Oiler developed in the NAHL with the Minot Minotauros, Brookings Blizzard, Minnesota Wilderness, and the Aberdeen Wings over three years, winning NAHL MVP, Goaltender of the Year, best GAA (1.19) and best save percentage (.952), along with the USA Hockey Junior Goalie of the Year award in the 2020-21 season.
Sibell joins Dylan Fitze (F), Lukas Jirousek (F), Tyrell Goulbourne (F), Mike McKee (D), Nik Armstrong-Kingcade (F), Caleb Huffman (D), Max Itagaki (F), Ian Amsbaugh (F), Connor Fedorek (D), Ethan Benz (F), Zachary Murray (F), Max Ruoho (D), Caiden Gault (F), Jay Dickman (F), and Tyler Poulsen (F) as announced signings for the 2026-27 season.
The Tulsa Oilers begin the regular season hosting the Allen Americans on October 17 at the BOK Center. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. CT.
