Tulsa, Okla. — Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, and powered by Community Care, announced the return of rookie forward Ian Amsbaugh after an eight-game stint with the team to finish the 2025-26 season.
Amsbaugh (23) was signed late in the 2025-26 season by the Oilers, playing in eight games and totaling two points with a goal and an assist. The returning rookie was a +5 in a short amount of time with the team, having recorded his first pro goal on April 3, 2026, on the road against the Rapid City Rush as he tucked an unassisted breakaway past the goal line 5:32 into the game, placing Tulsa up 2-0.
“It is always great for players to get a taste of the pro game at the end of the season,” said head coach Rob Murray.“Ian came in and showed he could play and produce at our level. Talking to him this summer, I told him he needs to have a shoot-first mentality; he agreed, and we are excited to have him back and to see what he can bring.”
The Bottineau, North Dakota native played his college hockey at Adrian College, skating in 87 games with 108 points (33g, 75a) to his name and finished as a +50 on the ice.
Amsbaugh joins Connor Fedorek (D), Ethan Benz (F), Zachary Murray (F), Jay Dickman (F), and Tyler Poulsen (F) as announced signings for the 2026-27 season.
The Tulsa Oilers begin the regular season hosting the Allen Americans on October 17 at the BOK Center. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. CT.
