DYLAN FITZE'S HAT TRICK, VYACHESLAV BUTEYETS' SHUTOUT HIGHLIGHT DOMINANT WIN OVER RAPID CITY
Dylan Fitze nets three and Vyacheslav Buteyets stops 21 shots in 5-0 drubbing of Rapid City Rush
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, and powered by Community Care, shut out the Rapid City Rush 5-0 on Wednesday night at The Monument in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Despite outshooting Rapid City 19-6 Rico DiMatteo stopped all 19 chances, with
Vyacheslav Buteyets turning in his first-of-three perfect frames on the night with six saves.
Dylan Fitze broke the game open 7:31 into the second period, popping a spinning feed from Tyrell Goulbourne over DiMatteo to place Tulsa up 1-0. Fitze netted his second of the second period with 5:49 left in the frame, beating DiMatteo short side with another topshelf finish. Josh Nelson scored his third goal in as many games 1:26 later, burying a feed delivered from below the goal line by Justin Michaelian, securing his 30th point of the season and a 3-0 lead for the Oilers.
Fitze capped his hat trick with another first-class snapshot at the 15:47 mark of the third period, placing the Oilers up 4-0. Lukas Jirousek capped the dominant night with a power-play tip with 1:58 remaining, closing the score 5-0 in Tulsa’s favor.
Buteyets stopped 21 shots in his second shutout effort of the season, earning his 15th campaign win in the process.
The Oilers look to keep the goals flowing on Friday, April 3 at 8:05 p.m. with a rematch against the Rush at the Monument.
