VETERAN SCORING THREAT TYLER POULSEN RETURNS FOR FOURTH SEASON
Tyler Poulsen ready for fourth full campaign in Tulsa following career-best year
TULSA, Okla. —The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls and powered by Community Care, announced Friday the re-signing of veteran forward Tyler Poulsen for the 2025-26 season
Poulsen, 32, returns to Tulsa after compiling a career high 22 goals and 42 points enroute to his third-straight Vic Poole Never Give Up Award. The veteran forward displayed his ability to still dominate the outcome of a game as recently as Wednesday, April 9, scoring his first career hat trick and a career-high five points in an 8-1 victory over the Allen Americans in the final week of the regular season. Poulsen followed the display up later that same month, forcing Game 6 in the Mountain Division Semi-finals with a two-goal performance, including the game’s opener.
“We love having Poulsen on the team,” Head Coach Rob Murray said. “He’s relentless in the way he plays the game but also the way he approaches and prepares. He is a great asset to have — one of those guys you can trust has your back not only as a teammate but as coaches as well. He continues to produce even when he is banged up and has come up for us big in many moments. Year-in-year-out you can expect that he will bring 100 percent effort to every game and practice, and we’ve watched him take over games
The Arvada, Colorado native has finished top five or better in goals, assists, points or all three categories in each of his three seasons in Tulsa and has recorded his career highs in goals (24-25), points (24-25), assists (22-23) and PIM (23-24) during his multi-season tenure. Reaching the forty-point mark twice in his three seasons in Tulsa, Poulsen totals 113 points (49g, 74a) in 188 regular season games as an Oiler and has played in three postseasons with the team. The five-foot-eight, 182-pound winger turned pro with the Allen Americans in 2018 and holds 180 points (86g, 94a) in 338 ECHL games split among Allen, Rapid City, Worcester and Tulsa, adding 228 PIM through his hardnosed style.
Prior to turning pro, Poulsen played three seasons with the University of Alabama-Huntsville logging 38 points (15g, 23a) in 88 games, leading the now-defunct program with 17 assists in 2017-18. The former Charger garnered D1 attention in the NAHL, notching 156 points (74g, 82a) and 190 PIM with Odessa and Topeka. Poulsen earned NAHL First All-Star Team honors in 2013-14, scoring 61 points (29g, 32a), to lead the Roadrunners in goals and points and rank second in the former and fourth in the latter in the NAHL.
Poulsen joins Josh Nelson in the announced Oilers’ signing for the 2025-26 season. Stay tuned for more announcements as the offseason progresses.
