GRIZZLIES NOTCH SIX UNANSWERED AGAINST OILERS
Tulsa allows season-high eight goals against in stunning loss
TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls and powered by Community Care, lost 8-3 to the Utah Grizzlies at the BOK Center on Saturday night.
Andrew Lucas scored his fifth of the season to open the scoring and put the Oilers up 3:27 into the game. Reed Lebster jumped on an Oilers’ turnover less than two minutes later to tie the contest. Dylan Fitze sent the Grizzlies into the second period up 2-1 via a botched clearance by Talyn Boyko in the final two minutes of the opening frame.
Mike McKee pulled Tulsa level 2:49 into the second period with a tip down low. Justin Michaelian restored an Oilers’ lead 3-2 with a power-play tip — his 11th goal of the campaign — 2:42 into the back half of the game. Briley Wood forced a tied third period with 4:01 left in period two.
Utah scored all five goals in the third period, with five separate players finding the back of the net at the 1:23, 3:16, 11:37, 14:14 and 15:53 marks of the final period, closing the scored 8-3.
Both teams close out the week tomorrow, March 2 at 3:05 p.m. at the BOK Center.
