AUSTIN ALBRECHT RETURNS FOR SECOND OILERS’ CAMPAIGN
Experienced two-way forward Austin Albrecht returns to Tulsa after joining squad at last season’s trade deadline
TULSA, Okla. —The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, and powered by Community Care, announced Friday the re-signing of forward Austin Albrecht for the 2024-25 season.
Albrecht, 28, returns to the Oilers after recording 21 points (6g, 15a) in 51 games split between Maine and Tulsa. The seasoned pro also added 60 points (24g, 36a) this summer in 18 games with the Melbourne Ice of the Australian Ice Hockey League.
“Austin was a piece we really wanted back,” head coach Rob Murray said. “I like his willingness and ability as a shot blocker. He brings size that we’ve needed and looked for, using it to his advantage in all aspects of his game. While he was disappointed with his lack of offensive output with us after his acquisition from Maine, he’s proven over his career he can produce consistently at this level. After re-finding his scoring touch over the summer in Australia, I’m eager to see what he brings to the table starting the season with us.”
The 6’1, 200 lbs. forward sports 38 points (14g, 24a) in 81 career ECHL games with Indy, Maine, Tulsa and Wichita. In addition, Albrecht has collected 99 PIM, 82 of which came last season. Supplementing his ECHL totals, the second-year Oiler holds 26 points (6g, 20a) in 31 SPHL games, 14 points (3g, 11a) in 28 EIHL games and nine points (3g, 6a) in eight games in the German Oberliga.
Prior to his professional career, Albrecht spent two seasons in the NCAA, compiling 26 points (11g, 15a) in 61 games with UMass and American International College.
The Flemington, New Jersey native finished his junior career in the USHL, tallying 45 points (10g, 35a) in 57 games with Sioux Falls and Muskegon after recording 83 points (35g, 48a) in 110 games with the NAHL’s Wichita Falls Wildcats from 2014-16.
