TWO-TIME AWARD WINNER POULSEN RETURNS TO TULSA

Forward Tyler Poulsen returns for this fourth season in Green Country 

 

TULSA, Okla. —The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, announced Monday the re-signing of veteran forward Tyler Poulsen for the 2024-25 season.  

 

Poulsen31, dons an Oilers jersey for his first season as a veteran (260+ gp) after scoring a career-high 17 goals last campaign. In 124 games as an Oiler, Poulsen has accrued 71 points (27g, 44a), including a career-high 40 points and 30 assists in 2022-23. For the second-straight season, Poulsen earned the Vic Poole Never Give Up Award from the team, awarded to the player that displays the strongest work ethic and perseverance through the season. 


“It’s great to have Poulsen back,” said head coach Rob Murray. “He is a player that never takes a shift off, let alone a game. He brings energy to games and has a knack for picking up goals when we need them. He’s a player that is good to have in the room, and we know what we’ll get from him coming into another year with the team.”   

 

The Arvada, Colorado native totals 138 points (64g, 74g) in 274 ECHL games, split among Allen, Rapid City, Tulsa and Worcester. The 5’9, 180 lbs. forward was acquired before the 2021-22 postseason, playing in three games against Utah before adding four more postseason appearances. 

The right-handed winger played his college hockey at the University of Alabama — Huntsville, tallying 38 points (15g, 23a) in 88 games with the Chargers. Poulsen led the now-defunct program with 17 assists during the 2017-18 season and finished second with 26 points. 

 

The Oilers host the first ever preseason game at the WeStreet Ice Center on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:05 p.m.

 

The Oilers kick off the regular season with a 7:05 p.m. puck drop on Saturday, Oct. 19, hosting the Rapid City Rush. The Oilers finish at two-in-two series on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 3:05 p.m.
