OILERS OPEN PRESEASON WITH 4-1 WIN OVER AMERICANS
Yaroslav Yevdokimov nets two as Oilers outshoot Americans 51-24 in 4-1 win
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas —The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls and powered by Community Care, defeated the Allen Americans 4-1 at Nytex Sports Centre to open preseason on Friday night.
Riley MacRae tipped home the initial goal of the game 13:48 into the action. The goal was assisted by affiliated players Kyle Crnkovic and Anthony Costantini.
Yaroslav Yevdokimov extended Tulsa’s lead to 2-0 seven seconds past the mid-way mark of the game. Kishaun Gervais added the Oilers second score of the frame with 3:04 remaining in the period to make it 3-0. Tulsa dominated shots 26-5 in the middle frame.
Yevdokmiov found his second of the game 4:23 into the third to open the scoring in back-to-back periods. Rookie defenseman Lincoln Erne set up the 4-0 tally. Matt Brassard scored the lone Allen goal on the power play with 5:04 remaining —closing the score 4-1.
Gage Alexander stopped all 13 shots he faced while Rylan Toth halted 10 of 11 for the Oilers. Ottawa Senators' prospect Leevi Merilainen stopped 40 of 43 between the pipes for Allen and Anthony D'Aloisio stopped seven of eight in relief.
The Oilers host the Americans for the final 2023 preseason game tomorrow, Oct. 14 at 7:05 p.m. at the Oilers Ice Center.
