Oilers win in style 5-1 to close out 2022 in South Dakota
RAPID CITY, SD. —The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, won 5-1 over Rapid City on New Year’s Eve at the Monument.
Dante Sheriff notched his second goal of the week and his pro career on the first shot of the game, sniping Adam Carlson 53 seconds into the action. Max Golod also tallied his second goal of the season on the second shot of the night, setting Tulsa up 2-0 just 2:13 after the drop of the puck. Ethan Stewart added his second of the season for a 2-goal trifecta to close out the period and 2022, closing the first period score line 3-0 in favor of the Oilers.
Stewart added his second of the contest 3:11 past the midway mark of the period, dusting off a feed from Ryley Lindgren.
Jimmy Soper launched his 10th of the campaign on a one-time, power-play blast to set Tulsa up 5-0 with 9:32 let the in the game. Ilya Nikolaev scored Rapid City’s lone goal at the 16:35 mark.
Colten Ellis halted 35 of 36 shots and was the First Star of the game.
