FOURTEEN OILER ALUMNI EARN NHL TRAINING CAMP INVITES

Fourteen former Oilers will start their seasons at six NHL training camps

TULSA, OK — The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and AHL’s San Diego Gulls, announced Thursday that 14 former players have been invited to six separate NHL training camps.

Seven of the 14 players invited are attending Anaheim Ducks training camp, including Jack Badini, Roman Durny, Hunter Drew, Olle Eriksson Ek, Max Golod, Bryce Kindopp and Vincent Marleau. Six of those seven players played for the Oilers last season, and five of the seven spent some time with San Diego last year. Badini, Drew, Golod and Kindopp all scored goals for the Ducks at the Rookie Shootout, hosted by the Arizona Coyotes earlier this month. Marleau and Durny also played in the Shootout, with Marleau appearing in the third game and Durny splitting time with Gage Alexander.

Dakota Joshua, Tanner Kaspick and Josh Wesley are all attending the St. Louis Blues training camp. Joshua made his NHL debut last season, scoring in his first game. Kaspick was a member of the 2018-19 Mountain Division Championship team, and Wesley finished with 17 points (8G, 9A) in 26 games in 2019-20.

The NHL’s newest team, the Seattle Kraken, is bringing Brent Gates to main camp. Gates played in two separate stints with the Oilers, notching 38 points (16G, 22A) in 56 total games.

The Washington Capitals are bringing current Hershey Bear and former Tulsa Oilers forward Kale Kessy to training camp. Kessy played 84 games with Tulsa, registering 54 points (24G, 30A) and 311 PIM as an Oiler.

Austin Poganski, who was the first Oiler to play in an NHL game in the ECHL era, is attending camp with the Winnipeg Jets. Poganski played with the Oilers in the 2018-19 season and is on a two-way deal with the Jets.

Goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick will be at camp with the Florida Panthers. Fitzptrick played two seasons on assignment from St. Louis. The Memorial Cup champion is currently under contract with the Charlotte Checkers, the AHL affiliate of the Panthers.

This is the second year of a three-year affiliation with the Anaheim Ducks and San Diego Gulls. The Anaheim Ducks open training camp on Thursday, Sept. 23 at Great Park Ice and FivePoint Arena in Irvine, CA. The Oilers begin training camp on Monday, Oct. 11 at the Oilers Ice Center. Oilers’ training camp will be open to the public, and a schedule will be released at a later date.

Alongside training camp, the Oilers will play two preseason games at the Wichita Ice Center on Friday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 16. Both games will start at 7 p.m. CT. Tickets can be purchased through the following link https://www.wichitathunder.com/exhibition21

The Oilers kick off the 2021-22 season with a Friday night road tilt against the Rapid City Rush on Oct. 22 before opening at home against the Kansas City Mavericks on Saturday, Oct. 30.
