OILERS RE-SIGN ROOKIE TEETS FOR 2019-20SEASON
Rookiedefenseman returns after making pro debut at the end of the 2018-19 season
TULSA, OK — The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHLaffiliate of the National Hockey League’s St. Louis Blues, announced Tuesdaythe signing of defenseman John Teets.
Teets,25, returns to Tulsa after making his professional debut with the team at theend of the regular season. Teets was the only late-season rookie addition tomake the Mountain Division Champion playoff roster.
Teetsappeared in three regular season games and six postseason contests for theOilers, scoring his first professional goal in the regular season finaleagainst Wichita on April 7th.
Beforeturning pro, the 6’3 205 lbs. defenseman spent four seasons with the Universityof Alabama-Huntsville Chargers, tallying 20 points (4G, 16A) in 105 collegiatecontests.
“It’sgood to have John Teets back,” coach Rob Murray said “He’s a big, strongdefenseman that performed well straight out of school. It’s beneficial for guysto get that time right out of college, so you have a gauge of what it takes tomake it at this level. Obviously he had what it took and made the playoffroster as well”
TheFairbanks, AK native split his junior career between the Fort McMurray OilBarons of the AJHL and the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the NAHL. Teets posted 27points (11G, 16A) in 108 games for Fort McMurray before registering 20 points(3G, 17A) in 60 games in his home state of Alaska.
TheOilers host the Kansas City Mavericks to open the regular season on Friday,October 11th at 7:05 p.m. at the BOK Center. Opening weekend will then see theAllen Americans come to town on Saturday, October 12th, before the Oilers closeout the weekend with a Sunday matinee game against the Rapid City Rush at 4:05p.m.
