OILERS SWEEP KANSAS CITY AND WICHITA

Tulsa enters final week of eight-game home stand 4-0-1 to start the season after wins over Mavericks and Thunder.

OVERALL RECORD:  4-0-1

LAST WEEK:  2-0-0

RESULTS

Friday, Oct. 26 – Tulsa 4, Kansas City 1  (BOK Center) | Box Score

>> The Tulsa Oilers stayed unbeaten in regulation by knocking off the Kansas City Mavericks 4-1 in the first meeting of the season between the two rivals. After a scoreless opening frame, Tulsa scored back-to-back second period goals. Rookie defenseman Kyle Rhodes gave the Oilers a 1-0, followed by the eventual game-winner from captain Adam Pleskach. The Mavericks only goal came on a late power play in the middle frame, but Tulsa added some insurance when Roman Ammirato scored 1:46 into the final stanza. Alex Kromm made it 4-1 late in the game when he forced Kansas City into an own goal on a clearing attempt that went off a Mavericks skate.

Saturday, Oct. 27 – Tulsa 2, Wichita 1 (OT)  (BOK Center) | Box Score

>> The Oilers returned to the BOK Center the next night and thoroughly manhandled the Wichita Thunder in a game where it didn’t reflect on the scoreboard. Tulsa outshot Wichita 17-5 in the opening period, but the Thunder led 1-0 after one thanks to a short-handed goal. The Oilers tied the game at 1-1 on a delayed penalty when Jared Thomas blasted a shot from the point through a screen. Wichita stole a single point when the game went to overtime after a scoreless third period due to a 53-save outing from goaltender Shane Starrett, but Tulsa got the last laugh when Charlie Sampair scored 15 seconds into the extra period. Rookie goalie Evan Fitzpatrick stopped 15 of 16 shots for his first pro win.
