Oilers Claim Bates off Waivers

Tulsa, OK (March 23, 2016)–The Tulsa Oilers announced on Wednesday that they have claimed forward Shawn Bates off of waivers, who was released earlier this week by Atlanta.

Bates, 26, joins the Oilers having skated in 17 games with the Gladiators this season where he inked four points (3 goals and 1 assist).

The Vermilion, Atlanta native started the 2015-16 campaign in the SPHL with the Columbus Cottonmouths. He played in 81 contests for the Cottonmouths—tallying 35 goals and 37 assists.

The 5’10 forward played alongside Oiler Justin Mansfield at Merrimack College where he earned 46 points in 103 games.

The Oilers meet up with the Utah Grizzlies tonight in the Maverick Center at 7 p.m. MST.
