The Oilers are back on the road after an eight game home stretch. Tonight Tulsa will face their division rivals, the Allen Americans, for the first time since a 4-3 loss to the team in red on November 22. Both teams were awarded two points in their last matchups, each winning in a 3-2 shootout on Saturday night. The Oilers are 3-3-0-0 against the Americans this season.

Goaltender Kevin Carr has started in each of the Oilers’ last 12 games and ranks seventh in the ECHL. With 1,016 minutes played this season, Carr is 9-7-1-0 with a 2.01 goals against average. Carr is 1.000 in shootouts.

Right-winger Dennis Brown continues to climb up the point ladder. Brown leads the Oilers with 14 assists and has recorded a +13. The Western Michigan University product spent the last two seasons under Coach Christie’s wing as well when he played for the Ontario Reign. In 47 games during the 2014-15 season, Brown registered 14 assists total—his current number in only 21 games with Tulsa.

Last week, the Tulsa Oilers were assigned rookie defenseman Aaron Harstad from the Manitoba Moose. The Wisconsin native has played in seven games for Manitoba this season and now five for the Oilers where he has produced two goals and two assists since his arrival. The Colorado College product was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the seventh round (187th overall) in 2011. Just Friday, the Oilers announced arrival of left wing Axel Blomqvist. The 6’7 forward from Sweden, who was also a gift from Manitoba, scored a goal in his debut with the Oilers Friday night.

Dan DeSalvo is ranked 14th among ECHL Rookies with 17 points… Phil Brewer is ranked second in the ECHL in shootout goals… Tulsa remains the only team in the league to have not allowed a shorthanded goal… The Oilers do not return to the BOK Center for 15 days…

Below is an Excerpt for a Tulsa Oilers Game

Jeff: In the conference standings, Tulsa ain’t looking so bad. Tulsa’s in 8th place and right now sitting in a playoff spot. It’s looking pretty good right now for the Oilers. If they can keep it up throughout the rest of this season, then the Oilers have a good chance of being in the playoffs for the first time in many years. That would be awesome and it would be a wonderful excitement for the Tulsa fans. It would be awesome, of course, for the players. I’ll be honest. I’d be stinkin’ excited, too, if we went on and had some east coast hockey league playoff action this season, folks. Let’s extend the season this year. How great would that be? I would be totally in favor of that.

All right. We’ll take another break. We’ll come back with our third period of hockey when we continue. We’re tied 1, 1 in the second intermission. You’re listening to Oilers hockey.
