Oilers send future considerations to Norfolk, receiving Cody Milan

TULSA, Okla.— The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and AHL’s San Diego Gulls, announced Tuesday the acquisition of forward Cody Milan in exchange for future considerations.

Milan, 26, sits second in points (16) and first in assists (12) this season with the Norfolk Admirals. The third-year pro also has four goals to his credit this season. Over his career, the right-handed forward totals 96 points (28G, 68A) in 134 ECHL games with Norfolk and Cincinnati

The 6’1, 205 lbs. forward played collegiately at Michigan State University, compiling 53 points (16G, 37A) in 122 games with the Spartans. Milan served as an alternate captain as a senior.

The Orchard Lake, Michigan native played juniors in the USHL with Sioux Falls and Tri-City, logging 45 points (19G, 26A) in 141 games after entering the league as the ninth overall pick in the 2012 USHL Futures Draft. Milan was also drafted in the second round of the NAHL draft by the Soo Eagles and 74th overall by the Soo Greyhounds in the OHL Priority draft.

Cody’s older brother Dan Milan played more than 400 professional games, appearing in the ECHL (367), CHL (50) and AHL (1). Dan played against the Oilers during his two-season stint with the Wichita Thunder.

Norfolk joins Orlando and Rapid City as teams the Oilers owe a player to at a later date. This does not complete the trade earlier between Norfolk and Tulsa, where Alex Pommerville was sent to the Admirals in exchange for cash.  Adirondack owes the Oilers a player at the trade deadline, which will complete the offseason trade that sent defenseman Ryan DaSilva to the Thunder.

The Oilers play their final two home games of 2022 on Thursday, Dec. 22 and Friday, Dec. 23, hosting Allen in both contests. Both games are at the BOK Center and will start at 7:05 p.m.
